This is meant to entice and excite the person receiving the call, which opens the door for their scam. This may be something such as a free cruise, a cash payment, or something else that would be of value. One of the most common types of fraud over the telephone is when the caller states that the recipient of the call has won something. However, there are a handful of things that you should look at for, which makes it fairly to easily identify when someone is trying to scam you.
